Pesto, Signore?

So I put on my cooking hat today and made me some pesto pasta for lunch today. Most people only know about eating pasta with red or white sauces, so now you know there is pasta with green sauce as well! To make pesto sauce, all you need are basil leaves, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil and then blend them all together.

Because I only made just enough sauce for myself, the blender couldn't blend my basil leaves into a finer paste  as everything kept sticking to the sides. So I had to whip out the mortar and pestle to pound it myself T.T Ironically, this was how the name "pesto" originated so I took it as a good sign haha.

super old school!

The pounding took me forever because it is super difficult to pound leaves that are flat, if that makes any sense to you. Also, whenever I pound it, the green sauce keeps spurting out to my face fml. But at least it made it into a smoother paste and texture.

Tadaa!

Once the blending and pounding are done, all you have to do is to mix in your pasta and voila! The basil leaves are what makes the pesto sauce green so it might look gross and all, but it tastes and smells absolutely heavenly!  Some people might get turned off by the strong herbal zing of the basil so I guess pesto might not be your cup of tea. Oh well, your loss!
